Raymond TitmanFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 19, 1997 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Raymond Titman Raymond A. Titman, the son of Benjamin and Alta (Sexton) Titman, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 23, 1921, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on April 15, 1997, at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 22 days. He grew up near Aurora, attended country schools, and helped his father on the farm. He served his country during World War 2, in the U.S. Army, from July 12, 1942, until his discharge on January 24, 1946. On April 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris Schafer at Belleville, Kansas. After their marriage they lived in Lincoln, where he was employed by Western Electric, until 1947, when they returned to Aurora and he worked for “Curly” Penner and later Boyd Jones in the Aurora Jack and Jill Store. In 1958 he purchased the store and operated it until he sold it in 1976. He worked for Bonnavilla Homes until he semi-retired and later worked for the 12th Street Liquor. Ray was a member of the Aurora Messiah Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Aurora American Legion, Lester S. Harter Post #42, the Aurora V.F.W. Post #4993, and the Grand Island Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #378. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bernard and Leonard, and a sister Dorothy Tindle. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Doris of Aurora; 2 daughters, Kim Crawford of Aurora, and Patricia Gill of Big Springs; one brother Kenneth of Norfolk; 2 sisters, Betty Green of Lincoln and Virginia Holmes of Aurora; 3 grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren. |
