Dorothy Toof
Dorothy Toof, age 89, of Aurora, died Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 13th at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: DOROTHY TOOF Dorothy H. Toof, the daughter of Hugh and Irene (Phillips) Hardin, was born and raised in rural Iowa on June 7, 1915 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 11, 2004, at the age of 89. She grew up in Pleasantville, Iowa where she graduated from Pleasantville High School. Dorothy went on to graduate from Des Moines Business College. After graduation, Dorothy went to work as a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service in Iowa and then in California. On November 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Rollie Toof, Jr. at Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Aurora in 1950. Rollie passed away on June 15, 1983. Dorothy enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She loved cooking and taking care of her home and yard. In her spare time, she liked to go to garage sales. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother, Ralph Hardin. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jim (Jane) Toof of Hampton; two grandchildren, James (Tamera) Toof, Jr. of Lincoln and Jacque (Doug) Hettle of Bradshaw; 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Bradley of Westminster, Maryland. |
