Alice J. Tucker

Alice J. Tucker, age 95, of Aurora, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 11th at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Rev. Jim Garfield and Rev. Floyd Sauer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: ALICE J. TUCKER

Alice Juanita Tucker, the daughter of Carl H. and Grace Leone (Davis) Huenefeld, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on September 16, 1913 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 7, 2009, at the age of 95.

Alice lived her whole life around Aurora. She attended country school and graduated from Aurora High School in 1931. Alice attended a year at York College and also went to the University of Nebraska for a semester.

Alice was united in marriage to Melvin E. Tucker on December 29, 1938, in the home of her parents. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Aurora their entire lives, retiring in 1989. Melvin passed away on August 25, 2003.

Alice’s life was centered around her family and her church, she was President of the Women’s Missionary Society for many years and led the Missionette group. She loved the work she did in the church and was very faithful to the end. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Gideon's, Ministries of Love and was on the Auxiliary for Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Wesley and Charles Huenefeld and three sisters; Helen Campbell, Ruth Ronin and Alice’s twin sister, Eveline Greene.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, daughter and son-in-law, Gerri and Dave Fairchild of Grand Island; son, Edgar Tucker of Aurora; 4 grandchildren, Kristi Paulson of Burleson, Texas, David Salmon, Dean and Skip Tucker of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; foster son, Pat Fleming of Evergreen, Colorado and a great host of family and friends.
