Melvin Tucker

Melvin Tucker, age 85, of Aurora, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 28th at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Rev. Jim Garfield and Rev. Floyd Sauer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: MELVIN TUCKER

Melvin Edward Tucker, the son of Edward and Margret (Mendenhall) Tucker, was born in Loup City, Nebraska on September 22, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 25, 2003, at the age of 85.

He grew up in Hamilton County and attended Pelen Country School near Stockham through the 8th grade. Melvin was raised by his grandparents, the Mendenhall's.

Melvin was united in marriage to Alice Huenefeld on December 29, 1938, at the bride's home in Aurora. He was a farmer all of his life. Melvin retired from farming in 1989.

Melvin was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Gideon's and was a councilman for Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. Melvin was the last member of his family to pass on.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Alice Tucker of Aurora; daughter, Geraldine L. Fairchild and her husband David of Grand Island; son, Edgar L. Tucker of Aurora; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a great host of family and friends.
