Lucille Ulmer

Lucille Ulmer, age 69, of Aurora died Sunday, December 24, 2000 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary.

OBITUARY: LUCILLE ULMER

Lucille Virena Ulmer, the daughter of Raymond and Alice (Smith) Oswald was born in Aurora, Nebraska on July 23, 1931 and died in Aurora, Nebraska, on December 24, 2000, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 1 day.

She grew up on a farm near Aurora. Part of her childhood was spent in California and when her family moved back Lucille attended Aurora Public Schools.

Lucille was united in marriage to Vance H. Ulmer of Sutton, on December 5, 1948 at the Pleasant View Bible Church near Aurora. They lived in Bixby until 1953, when they moved to Murphy. Her many jobs included the box factory in Grand Island, a cook for the Aurora Public Schools and part-time work for the Aurora Co-op Elevator throughout much of her life. At the time of her death she was living on the same farmstead on which she was born and raised.

Lucille was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, bird watching and working in her garden. Lucille received a 45-year pin from the NWBA and the WIBC. She loved all these things and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ralph Oswald.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Vance of Aurora; two sons, Eugene and his wife Rhonda and Gregory and his wife Mindy both of Grand Island; one daughter, Nancy SaBell and her husband Michael of Aurora; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and one brother, Gerald Oswald of Aurora.
