Vera Vanderheiden

Vera Vanderheiden, age78, of Aurora died Saturday night, September 11, 1999, in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Father John Keefe will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.

OBITUARY: VERA VANDERHEIDEN

Veronica “Vera” Elizabeth Vanderheiden, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Jarosz) Starzec, was born in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska on November 27, 1920 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on September 11, 1999, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 14 days.

Vera was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska where she attended school. She worked in Chicago, Illinois and Omaha, Nebraska.

She was united in marriage to Lawrence Vanderheiden on October 21, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. They lived in Cedar Rapids, then moved to Grand Island, where Vera worked at St. Francis Hospital. Vera worked at Memorial Hospital after they moved to Aurora.

Vera was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Her parents, Stanley and Mary Starzec and her brother, Stephen Starzec, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of Aurora; three sons, James of Aurora, Robert of Lincoln, and Gerald of Aurora; three daughters, Mary Novotne of Columbus, Kathleen Kummer of Englewood, Colorado, and Vivian Holtzinger of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alphonse Starzec of Columbus, Sylvester Starzec of Columbus; two sisters, Josephine Sliva of Columbus and Bernetta Paprocki of Columbus.
