Marlow VanHorn

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 15, 1987 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Marlow VanHorn

Marlow Newton VanHorn, the son of Elaum and Loretta Marlow VanHorn, was born February 25, 1900 at Aurora, Nebraska and passed away October 13, 1987 at Aurora, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

He grew up and attended country school near Aurora, and then farmed with his family.

On January 27, 1924, he was united in marriage to Grace Maw at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They farmed until 1948 when they moved into Aurora and ran a café until 1950. Marlow then started a trucking business in which he was active until retiring in 1978. They lived at Crossroads Court in Aurora, and he spent the last 2 months at Bethesda Care Center.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3378 in Grand Island.

Marlow was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and a sister, Lulu Powell.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Grace; 2 daughters, Carol Burns and Roma Read both of Aurora; 2 sisters, Cora Scobie of Aurora and Leola Marshall of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends.
