Lynn Vetter
Lynn Vetter, age 88, of Aurora, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at Memorial Community Care. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 19th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Mosaic in York. OBITUARY: LYNN VETTER Lynn Eugene Vetter, the son of Frank and Saloma (Springer) Vetter, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on January 23, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 16, 2009, at the age of 88. He grew up south of Aurora on the family farm and attended country school through the 8th grade. On July 29, 1942, he was united in marriage to Betty Marie Shaneyfelt at Aurora. They lived in Grand Island and he worked at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant for a short time before moving to California, where they lived from 1943 to 1944, when they returned to Grand Island, and in 1945 they moved to Aurora. Lynn owned and operated the Vetter Brothers Dodge Dealership in Aurora with his brothers. Betty passed away on January 29, 1994. Lynn married June Illian on August 16, 1998. Lynn was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and BPOE Elks in Grand Island. He served on the Aurora City Council, the Parks Board and was an Aurora Volunteer Fireman. Lynn enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and Nebraska Football. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Deon Penner; daughter-in-law, Barbara Vetter; brothers, Ray, Max and Dale Vetter and sisters-in-law, Ruth and Doris Vetter. Those left to cherish his memory are his four sons, Michael Vetter of Alpharetta, Georgia, James (Teresa) Vetter of Lincoln, Jeffrey (Lori) Vetter of Fairbury, and William Vetter of York; daughter, Judith (Keith) Penner of Aurora; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Roberta) Vetter of Aurora; sister-in-law, Della Vetter of Aurora and 4 step-sons and their families. |
