OBITUARY: Edith Wagner

Edith Blanche (Humrich) Wagner, the daughter of Levi and Susie Bell (Irelan) Humrich, was born in Norton County, Kansas, on July 5, 1902, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 16, 1986, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 11 days.

She came to Aurora at the age of 9 with her parents and was educated in the Aurora Schools. She worked in Einer Peterson’s Clothing Store as a clerk, and in 1920, she went to Grand Island and took a job as housekeeper for Leo Wagner, whom she married in 1921. She raised 3 step-children; one step-son died at an early age. Edith was a hard working person and always had a large flower garden.

She was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son, 2 sisters, Vonnie Humrich and Marie Nixon; 2 brothers, Charley and Dwight (Jack) Humrich.

She is survived by 3 step-daughters, Margaret Holder and Leola Miller, both of Grand Island and Carol of Nevada; 3 sisters Vivian Casteel of Aurora, Margaret Potter of Grand Island and Emma McRae of Santa Rosa, California; a nephew, Gene Moser of Cheyenne, Wyoming and a niece Janet Twomey of Grand Island.
