Mildred Wall
Mildred Wall, age 98, of Aurora, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Memorial Community Care. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 30th at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Randall Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: MILDRED WALL Mildred Electa Wall, the daughter of Fred and Dora (Petersen) Christiansen, was born on a farm northeast of Hampton, Nebraska on June 12, 1909 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 26, 2007, at the age of 98. She attended school in District 25 through the 8th grade and went on to graduate from Hampton High School in 1926. Mildred attended summer school at Kearney State College, where she received a teaching certificate. She taught school two years in District 26, which was a mile north of Aurora (called the Cemetery school). Mildred was united in marriage to Edwin “Jap” Wall on April 18, 1934 at Concord, Nebraska. Bill and Doris Wall were attendants. This was in the Dust Bowl years and the air on the wedding day was so filled with dust the sun couldn’t be seen. They lived in Hampton where Jap worked in the blacksmith shop with his dad. They moved to Aurora in the spring of 1935 where Jap worked for the Hamilton County Road Dept, as foreman of the County Yards. He held this position until he was elected to the Office of Hamilton County Clerk, which he held until his death on January 30, 1968. Mildred was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton and past member of the Aurora Women’s Club, the Hamilton Manor Auxiliary and several card clubs. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Carol (Larry) Russell of LaGrange, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Lynn Russell of Las Lunas, New Mexico, John Russell, Tom (Shelley) Russell and Julie (Scott) Zeiler all of of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Delight Plotts of Spokane, Washington. |
