Clayton Wanek

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 28, 1991 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Giltner.

OBITUARY: Clayton Wanek

George Clayton Wanek, the son of George and Winifred (Lewis) Wanek, was born June 8, 1907, at Aurora, Nebraska, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 24, 1991, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 16 days.

He grew up in Hamilton County, and was a graduated of Aurora High School, with the class of 1925. He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1929. Upon graduation, he returned to Aurora to work with his father in the family bank.

On September 21, 1930, he was united in holy matrimony to Martha Jane Kimball, at Bushnell, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 3, 1963.

As a young man he served the community as a member of the school board and was a charter member of the Lions Club. In hi later years he was involved in farming with his son, Tom. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and also belonged to the local Knights of Columbus Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Frank.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Deanie Wanek of Aurora; son George of Omaha; and son and daughter-in-law Mike and Bonna Wanek of Grand Island. Six grandchildren, Kathy Wanek of Omaha, Tom Wanek of Grand Island, Jim Wanek of Omaha, Mischa, Mary Beth and Meg Wanek of Grand Island; and one sister Wilma Aalborg of Aurora.
