Harold Wanek

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 15, 1984 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Giltner.

OBITUARY: Harold Wanek

Harold Eugene Wanek, the son of Charles and Eleanor (Wunderlich) Wanek, was born at Giltner, Nebraska, on April 16, 1912, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 12, 1984, at the age of 72 years and 16 days.

Harold grew up in Giltner where he graduated from high school. Following high school he attended and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Harold was united in marriage to Margaret Reagan on October 19, 1935 at Omaha.

In 1940, Harold entered the U.S. Army and retired in 1960. Following his retirement from the U.S. Army, he operated H&M Gun Shop where he was a gunsmith.

Harold served one term as the mayor of Aurora

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora and was a member of he American Legion.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Henry.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret of Aurora and sons, John of Aurora and Charles of Omaha.
