Ray WanekFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 1, 1994 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner. Interment was held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Ray Wanek Raymond Arthur Wanek, the son of John and Clara (Belka) Wanek, was born at Giltner, Nebraska, on October 13, 1902, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 28, 1994, at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 15 days. He grew up in the Giltner area, attended District School #72, and graduated from Giltner High School with the class of 1920. He then attended the University of Nebraska for 3 years, and was a lifetime farmer in the Giltner area. Ray was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner, and served on the church board for 17 years. He was also a member of the Farmer’s Co-op, had served on the church cemetery board, the board of directors of the Farmer’s State Bank in Aurora, and belonged to the Plainsman Museum Century. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother J.A. Wanek, and a sister Alma Kolar. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his nephew Robert Kolar of Aurora; 2 nieces, Dorothy Strotman of Aurora, and Marjorie Neal of Lincoln, and other relatives and friends. |
