Donald Ward

Donald Ward, age 86, of Aurora, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 23rd at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Pastor Mary Scott will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: DONALD WARD

Donald Junior Ward, the son of Ned Donald and Anna Marie (Miller) Ward, was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska on May 6, 1924 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 19, 2010, at the age of 86.

He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School. Following his graduation he attended Evening College for two years.

On April 15, 1945, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Miller at Oberlin, Kansas. Following their marriage they moved to Gothenburg where Don ran a service station and several years later they moved to Columbus, Nebraska and later to San Diego, California where Don was in the trucking business. In 1992 they retired and moved back to Aurora. Betty passed away on April 27, 2006.

Don was a member of Aurora United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brother Fred Ward.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Vickie Benyr of Bentonville, AR, Sheryl Cook of Torrance, CA and Gary Ward of Hemet, CA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, John Ward of Roseville, CA and Scott Ward of Gothenburg, NE; sister, Ella Mae Schulze of Norton, KS and many nieces and nephews.
