Russel Warren

Russel Albin Warren, 80, of Aurora Nebraska died May 14, 2008 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 16th at 11:00 AM, at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be prior to the services with the family at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International or the Monroe Evangelical Free Church. OBITUARY: RUSSEL WARREN

Russel was born January 1, 1928 to Harley and Verda (Skinner) Warren of Giltner, Nebraska. He attended rural schools through Grade 8 and then Giltner High School, and was baptized in the Giltner Christian Church. Russ served in the Navy from 7/2/45 to 7/2/46.

He was joined in marriage to Janice Marie Wandersee on August 29th, 1948. They were blessed with four children, Gary, Peggy, Randy and Cheryl. Russ farmed in Hamilton County until retirement and worked for Sperry New Holland for sixteen years. He was actively involved in the community through Farm Bureau, Lion’s Club, Gideon’s International and volunteering at the Plainsman Museum. Russ was also an active and well-loved member of the Monroe Evangelical Free Church.

Russel was always highly interested and involved in the lives of his children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to farming, he enjoyed gardening, studying family history and genealogies, poetry, listening to music (especially the music of his family) and staying in touch with his extended family.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ed and Ellis Warren, his sister Glenda Wilson, brothers-in-law Del Snodgrass, Leonard Wilson and Winston Olson, sister-in-law Doris Akerson and her husband, Willis Akerson.

Survivors of the immediate family include his cherished wife of 59 years, Janice, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Jo Warren of Aurora, daughter Peggy of Chihuahua, Mexico, son and daughter-in-law Randy and Kasandra Warren of Centennial, Colorado, daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Craig Christner of McCook, Nebraska. Additional survivors include his beloved grandchildren: Jamie Warren and his wife Tracy, David Warren, his wife Jackie and their son, Luke, Matt Warren, Christopher Warren, Nathan Warren, Benjamin Warren, Alexandra Warren, Kathryn Warren, Jonathan Christner, Leanne (Christner) Miller and her husband Tim, and their children; Anna, Joel and Nathaniel. Russel is also survived by two sisters; Nellie Olson of Hastings, Nebraska,and Marjorie Snodgrass of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters and brothers-in-law Irene Warren of Aurora, Rose Marie Warren of Aurora, Robert and Shirley Reichardt of Arlington, Texas, Russ and Mary Lou Heckel of Thousand Oaks, California, as well as many nieces and nephews.
