Gerhard Werth

Funeral Services were held 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, September 24, 1991 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Gerhard Werth

Gerhard William Werth, the son of John and Magdalina (Wilkens) Werth, was born near Hampton, Nebraska, on January 28, 1906, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 21, 1991, at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

He grew up at rural Hampton, and attended Zion Lutheran School, and helped with his father’s farm.

On August 11, 1929, he was united in marriage to Erma Schaepler at Polk, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on November 24, 1986. They farmed near Hampton until 1938, when they quit farming, but remained on the same farm. In 1941, they moved to Seward, and in 1969, they returned to Hampton. Jerry was in the real estate and auctioneer business while living in Seward and Hampton. In July of 1986, they moved into the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter Eloris Andrews, and a great grandchild, Seth Lehmann.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son Gerald Werth, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 3 daughters, Arliss Peter of Grand Island; Joyce Lehmann of Claflin, Kansas, and Elizabeth Lutz, of Detroit, Michigan; a brother, Arnold Werth of York; and one sister, Hilda Stunkel of Omaha; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
