Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in Valentine, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Helen Wilkins

Helen M. Wilkins, the daughter of John and Frances (Chytka) Macek, was born at Crawford, Nebraska, on March 2, 1903, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on February 15, 1987, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 13 days.

She grew up in Crawford, Chadron, Cody, and Valentine, and graduated from Velentine in 1920. She then attended Chadron State College for 3 years, and then taught for 5 years in rural northwestern Nebraska.

On July 24, 1928, she was united in holy matrimony to Lyal Wilkins at Chadron, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1973.

After marriage they lived in Nenzel, Nebraska, on a ranch, until moving to Aurora in 1982.

Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and was also a member of St. Victor’s Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter Eileen Shields, and 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son Edward of Aurora; one brother Joseph B. Macek of Faulkton, South Dakota; one sister, Sister Mary Margaret Macek, RSM of Omaha; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
