Dick WilliamsFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 10, 1990 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Dick Williams Orville Richard Williams, the son of Ed and Jennie (Woolery) Williams, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 27, 1925, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 7, 1990, at the age of 65 years and 10 days. He grew up at Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1943. He served his country during World War II, in the United States Army and Air Force, from March of 1945 to December 1946. After his discharge he returned to Aurora and farmed with his father, and later his own for 35 years, until the mid 70’s, when he worked for Phillips 66, and later ABC Contractors. On November 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Luella Yost, at Sparks, Nevada. Dick was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and had served on the financial board. He was also a member of the 40 & 8, the Aurora American Legion and V.F.W. He had served as Post Commander, District Commander and Area Commander of the American Legion. He was also a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, and had been president of the Hamilton County Fair Board. His hobby was working with the youth. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Irene Miller. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Luella, of Aurora; 2 daughters, Cheryl Derr of Kearney and Cynthia Williams, at home; 2 brothers, Max of Humansville, Missouri, and Harry of Osage Beach, Missouri; 3 sisters, Merle Morrison of Redding, California, Vera Post of Lakewood, California, and Evelyn Sullivan of Long Beach, California; and 2 grandchildren. |
