Mary Willman

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 3, 1993 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Mary Willman

Mary Alice Willman, the daughter of Carl and Mary (McCutchen) Willman, was born on a farm southwest of Phillips, Nebraska, on February 22, 1901, and died at David City, Nebraska, on April 30, 1993, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

She graduated from Grand Island High School in 1919, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1937. She did graduate work at the University of Nebraska, and the University of Denver School of Music.

Mary taught in school in Waueneta, Dunning, Odell, Springview, David City, Aurora, and Phillips, both in the grade school and High School. She was an English and music teacher.

She was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, and served many years as organist. She was a past matron of the Phillips Chapter #204, Order of Eastern Star, and belonged to Mu Phi Epsilon Honorary Musical Sorority at the University of Nebraska, Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Women Teacher’s Sorority, The Business and Professional Women’s Association, the Nebraska State Retired Teacher’s Association, and the KKK Club of Hamilton County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Clara Willman and a brother William Willman.

She is survived by a niece Dona Jean Chalquest of Schuyler, 2 nephews, Donald Willman and Byron Willman both of Columbus.
