Glen WilsonFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held at Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island, Nebraska. OBITUARY: Glen Wilson Glen Ulysses Wilson, the son of Andrew and Margaret (Gray) Wilson, was born at Brewster, Nebraska, on October 17, 1920, and died at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on April 22, 1995, at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 5 days, following a lengthy illness. He attended school in Brewster and Dunning. In 1936, he worked at a CCC Camp and planted trees at the Halsey Forest. In 1937, he ranched in Wyoming, in 1940, he worked at Kunies Bakery in Omaha, and in 1941, he drove a truck for D.P. Riggs in Dunning. While in Dunning, he met a school teacher Goldie Vincent from Ashton, and they were married on May 27, 1944, in Omaha. To this union six children were born. Goldie preceded him in death on June 21, 1980. After their marriage, Glen worked for McElroy, Henry Bremer, and E.J. Bell Heating and Plumbing in Grand Island. In 1956, he began working for the Aurora State Company in Aurora, and he and his crew earned the slogan “Wilson Built Is Well Built”. He retired from construction work in 1982, but still kept active in doing work for his family and friends. Glen attended the Aurora United Methodist Church, was very active in bowling, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with the family. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in their activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Goldie, sisters, Helen Reynolds, Doris and Lavern Wilson, and Maxine Powell. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son Dwayne Wilson and his wife Caryll of Lincoln; 5 daughters, Patricia Everly and her husband George of Aurora, Joan Mowry and her husband Jearld of Arapahoe, Kay Steinbeck and her husband Lynn of North Platte, Nancy Roy and her husband Ken of Dannebrog, and Peggy Gallentine and her husband Tom of Aurora; a sister Jeanette Saner of Dunning, a half-brother Calvin Wilson and a half-sister Jeanie Stieb; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. |
