John Yonker

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 30, 1983 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

OBITUARY: John Yonker

John Andrew Yonker, the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Nickerson) Yonker, was born at Betheny, Missouri, on December 17, 1904, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on April 27, 1983, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 10 days.

His childhood was spent in the vicinity of his birth and later he moved to the McCook area.

On July 21, 1926, he was united in marriage to Lulu Winters at Oberlin, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1947.

He farmed south of McCook, and in 1941 he moved to the Phillips community. He was self employed as a carpenter in the Phillips area for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Claude, 4 brothers, Ed, Harry, Ralph and Wes. Three sisters, Hattie Baker, Ella McIntire Loree and Iva Wadkins and 2 grandchildren.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are two sons, Don of Phillips and Lowell of Elm Grove, Louisiana; two daughters, Nadine Davis of Ventura, California and Lois Schuster of Phillips; two brothers, Frank Yonker of Loveland, Colorado and George Yonker of North Platte; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives and close friends.
