Ardeen Zierott

Ardeen Zierott, age 81, of Hampton, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Bryan/LGH West in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 8th at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora with family receiving friends from 5 – 7. OBITUARY: ARDEEN ZIEROTT

Ardeen Otto Zierott, the son of Otto and Bertha (Podolski) Zierott, was born on a farmstead east of Hampton, Nebraska on March 2, 1926 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 4, 2007, at the age of 81.

He grew up on a farm near Hampton. Ardeen attended Zion Lutheran Elementary School and Hampton High School through his junior year, when he returned home to farm after his father died in a farming accident. He received his G.E.D. in 1972. Ardeen served in the U.S. Army for two years in the Chemical Corp, Arsenal Division, where he was involved with testing on the atomic bomb.

Ardeen was united in marriage to Bernice Heiden on August 3, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church northeast of York. They lived on the family farm northeast of Hampton. Ardeen farmed for many years and then worked for Batterton Lumber in Hampton (formerly Rural Lumber) till it closed. He then owned and operated a lumberyard in Schuyler for a short time. Ardeen recently retired from Schneider Hardware after seven years of service.

Ardeen was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served in several church offices, on various committees and the choir. He was also a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. Ardeen enjoyed playing cards and visiting with relatives and friends. He loved his grandkids and liked attending their activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arleen Hahn.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bernice Zierott of Hampton; four children, Dan (Sharon) Zierott of Bradshaw, Carl (Jan) Zierott of Lincoln, Elaine (Alan) Bicknase of Hampton, Roy (Susan) Zierott of Central City; 7 grandchildren, Danielle (Chris) Frisbie of Utica, Kristi, Nichole and Kyle Zierott of Bradshaw, Cody and Sean Bicknase of Hampton, and Justin Zierott of Central City.
