Erma Blase

Erma Blase, age 96, formerly of Marquette, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grand Island with Rev. Adam Snoberger officiating. Interment will be in North Blue Cemetery south of Hordville at 2:30P.M. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Mortuary. Memorials may be made to ARC of Buffalo County. Erma Theresa Mary Blase, the daughter of Frederick and Anna Marie (Meier) Schmale, was born during a blizzard in rural Doniphan, Nebraska on March 2, 1925, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska on November 4, 2021 at the age of 96.

Erma grew up on the farm, attending country school through the 8th grade.

On December 9, 1951, Erma married Herbert Blase at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. They had three children: Fred, Lilly, and Floyd.

Erma was a homemaker and a loving mother. She enjoyed helping with Bingo at the Hamilton Manor, pets, being a member of the ARC, reading, and Honey Sunday Sales.

Erma was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Island. Her husband, Herbert, died on Thursday, May 4, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; and son Floyd; parents-in-law William & Lydia (Richert) Blase; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Anna (Blase) & Gilbert Driewer, Carl & Louise (Wilshusen) Blase, Ervin & LenaMae (Baack) Blase, Bonnie (Wert) Blase, and Lorence & Marjorie (Bamesberger) Blase.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Fred of Hordville and daughter Lilly Blase of Lincoln; brother-in-law Clarence Blase of Hordville; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as numerous friends.
