Addie Dyer

Addie Dyer, age 79, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at her home.

A Memorial Service for Bruce and Addie will be at the United Methodist Church of Aurora on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Greg Reed will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Addie Marie Dyer, the daughter of Fred and Shirley (Frost) Johnson, was born at Lamar, Colorado on January 26, 1942, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska on November 15, 2021 at the age of 79.

Addie grew up in Lamar, Colorado until moving to Aurora, Nebraska while in the 4th grade. She completed 11 years of school and then obtained her GED. She joined the United States Navy serving from April 18, 1960 to July 26, 1961 where she worked as an aviation electronics technician. On July 29, 1968 Addie married Bruce Dyer. They made their home in Aurora where Addie worked as a cook at the Aurora Country Club, and Chuck's Drive-Inn. She also worked at Lippincott Industries & Fontel as a telephone repair technician, building pay phones for the State of Nebraska where she remained until retiring in 2005. Around the age of 50, she went back to school at Central Community College in Grand Island for computers where she also taught computer skills there.

Addie loved music and singing, including Karaoke, as well as reading. She loved volunteering at the Senior Center, teaching Senior Citizens how to use their computers as well as repairing and building computers for people. She loved fishing with friends and family as well as an annual fishing trip to Valentine, Nebraska's Merritt Reservoir for 20 years. Addie loved spending time with both sides of the family and attending her grandchildren's activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; parents; brothers Robby and Freddy Johnson as well as baby brother, Jackie; sister-in-law Kathy Johnson; brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law Leonard & Marion Dyer, Alice Dyer- Draney & Ralph, Larry Dyer, Beulah Dyer-Stehl & Reuben, and Dean & Dorothy Dyer.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael and his wife, Laurie of Sutton and their three children, Jonathan, Christopher of Aurora, and Megan of Sutton; daughter, Kathy Dyer of Aurora; brothers Larry and Gary Johnson of Aurora; sister Jean Knoell of Sutton; brother-in-law Doug Dyer (Terry) of Kearney; sisters-in-law Karen Dyer (Larry) of McCook and Laveda McDonald of Lee, Florida; as well as nieces, nephews and many other family members and dear friends.
